Lauchlin Fields

Creator of LF Voices Collective & The Sip Collective

A Mississippi-based storyteller and strategist, and the founder of LF Voices Collective — the studio behind The Sip Collective. With nearly 20 years across journalism, cultural storytelling, and community engagement, her work focuses on how stories can better connect people to each other and to the places they live.

The path
so far

Lauchlin began her career as a local news reporter and later collaborated with artist H.C. Porter on Blues at Home, documenting the oral histories of Mississippi blues musicians through a multimedia exhibit and book. In 2014, she founded The 'Sip magazine to tell deeper, more human stories about Mississippi's people and places.

Her work has expanded across journalism and cultural institutions. She served as Audience Development Director at Mississippi Today and later as Director of Growth and Innovation at Deep South Today, where she supported newsrooms across the South. She has also partnered with organizations like the Catfish Row Museum to develop exhibits, oral history projects, and community-based programming.

She currently serves as a Program & Coaching Manager at Blue Engine Collaborative, where she works with news organizations across the country to build sustainable, audience-centered strategies.

Why I Built LF Voices Collective

LFVC grew out of years of experience — working in local newsrooms, leading community-centered projects, supporting museums, and helping organizations tell stories that matter. Over time, I felt a quiet pull: a sense that there was more I could build.

We're reimagining how people experience news and information — moving beyond headlines and pageviews to create something more immersive, more human, and more lasting. It's a continuation, not a departure: a way to carry forward what I've built and learned alongside others.

My Manifesto

I believe the answer isn't more content. It's more meaning.

I believe stories matter — not just as content, but as a way for people to understand where they are, who they're connected to, and what it all means.

I believe storytelling should be rooted in real people, real places, and real experiences — and should help people see themselves, and each other, more clearly.

I believe connection doesn't happen automatically. It has to be created, with intention and care. I believe in collaboration over competition, and in building with clarity and purpose.

"And I'm here to build it — one story and experience at a time."
